Al Fresco! FMP Development

A lifestyle collection drawing inspiration from my travels around the Amalfi Coast last summer, exploring key aspects, traditions and practises of the Mediterranean way of life through vivid storytelling. Influenced by the unhurried pace of coastal life, the collection aims to convey the essence of leisurely days and evenings filled with warmth, laughter over shared meals and intimate connection. The collection best reflects a high-end lifestyle collection, forming an application that is reminiscent of the theme, in its use, practicability and aesthetic. Begging the question how can we emulate the Mediterranean atmosphere within specific material contexts to encourage better lifestyle practises prevalent in their culture. Al Fresco which translates to ‘in the fresh air’, is in line with the philosophy as design trends move towards cultivating indoor/outdoor spaces and communal areas, serving as a purpose to reconnect with people and their surroundings. While designs will have a main outcome, prints serve as multi-purpose in their design, investing in fewer, high-quality pieces reflective of the traditional versatility. Thoughtfully curated homeware, with each print informing the other so that they can shine on their own or work cohesively as a collection. Furthering the idea of mixing and layering prints together to create an eclectic and maximalist look, that is reminiscent of the striking patterns featured in local shop window displays. From sunlit scenes to your home, this collection has been curated with human interaction in mind. ‘Al Fresco!’ invites you to bring a piece of mediterranean into your space.

Using the same ink paintings to create a subverted checkerboard design. Inspired by traditional Italian checkerboarding surrounding dining such as tablecloths.

Inspired by vintage postcards, I wanted to capture a landscape setting that brought together all the ideas within the collection such as Mediterranean lifestyle and patterns, dining, people and connection, sun and sea, bold colour etc.
